The Philadelphia Freedom Concert and Ball

On July 4, 2005, the dmhFund produced the largest, free, outdoor HIV/AIDS awareness event ever held.  Over 500,000 people assembled on the Ben Franklin Parkway in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to participate in an outdoor concert event with fireworks featuring Sir Elton John, Canadian rock 'n roll icon Bryan Adams, R&B diva Patti LaBelle, singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright, Broadway star Bruce Vilanch, comedic actor Wayne Brady, sports legend Billie Jean King, broadcasting legend Walter Cronkite, and Peter Nero and The Philly Pops.

The successful event raised $1.1 million which was donated by the dmhFund to the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which raises global awareness and resources for HIV/AIDS prevention and care services, and the AIDS Fund, which supports Philadelphia region HIV/AIDS service provider organizations. Funds were raised through sponsorship, tickets to the Ball and concessions at the event.
